Solutions Architect
The Role
We're looking for a Senior Solutions Architect to be the technical bridge between Rivio and the customers who rely on it. You'll embed with our most strategic customers, learn how their sourcing and negotiation workflows actually run, and build whatever it takes to get Sheldon live and delivering savings inside their environment.
You'll code the majority of your time, but your work starts in the customer's world. You'll scope messy, ambiguous problems with CPOs, procurement leaders, and IT teams, then turn them into production integrations, agent workflows, and data pipelines. What you learn in the field flows straight back into the product, so you'll partner closely with engineering and leadership to shape the roadmap.
This is a founding role for our pre-sales engineering motion. You'll define how Rivio onboards, deploys and scales with enterprise customers, and build the playbook as we grow.
About Rivio
Rivio is a San Francisco–based AI technology company built for modern procurement teams that need to make better decisions, faster, and with confidence. Powered by Sheldon, Rivio embeds world-class procurement data and expertise directly into sourcing and negotiation workflows, helping teams capture repeatable savings, expand coverage without adding headcount, and build institutional knowledge that compounds over time.
Rivio is backed by Gradient Ventures, MIT, and S32, with strategic advisors from Meta, Apple, and other leading technology companies.
Job Requirements
Must have
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a technical, customer-facing role such as Solutions Architect, Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or a Software Engineer with consulting or implementation experience
• Able to own the technical relationship with enterprise stakeholders, from end users to executives to security teams, translating business problems into technical plans and back again
• Fluent in data ingestion and transformation: ETL pipelines, third-party API integrations, and dealing with messy external data from enterprise systems
• You know how to write production-ready code, not just demos and proofs of concept
• High proficiency with an AI coding assistant is mandatory (most of us use Claude Code)
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments typical of early-stage startups
Nice to have
• Experience with procurement, supply chain, finance, or ERP systems (SAP Ariba, Coupa, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, etc.)
• Enterprise readiness experience: SSO/SAML, data access controls, security reviews and questionnaires
• You've been an early FDE or SA at a startup and helped build the deployment playbook from scratch
Tech stack
- Backend: Python
- Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript, TailwindCSS
- Databases: Neo4j, DynamoDB, Redis
- AI: Proprietary agent orchestration layer on top of Gemini
- Cloud: AWS on CDK
What You Will Do
- Deploy with customers: Embed with strategic accounts, lead technical discovery, and own deployments end-to-end, from kickoff to go-live to measurable savings
- Build integrations: Connect Sheldon to customer ERPs, procurement suites, contract repositories, and data warehouses. Build the pipelines that turn messy spend and supplier data into something our agents can reason over
- Configure and tune agents: Adapt agent workflows, data inputs, and prompts to each customer's process, and build the evals that prove it's working
- Be the voice of the customer: Spot patterns across deployments and turn one-off solutions into reusable product. Partner with engineering on what belongs in the core platform
- Win and expand: Partner with sales on technical scoping, demos, and proofs of concept that turn skeptical buyers into champions
- Build the playbook: Create the tools, templates, and processes that let this function scale beyond one person
What We Believe
- Drive: We hire for drive first. It shows up as deep ownership, working on things no one asked you to do, and caring about outcomes; not just outputs.
- Velocity: Ship at 70-80% confidence, iterate fast, refuse to wait for perfect conditions.
- Agency: Act without permission. Set your own direction. Treat problems as experiments.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary and equity (based on experience)
- Significant impact on an early-stage startup backed by top-tier investors
- Dynamic, collaborative work environment
- Major opportunities for professional growth
- Comprehensive health insurance: medical, dental, and vision coverage
Why You Shouldn't Join
- You're not ready for the occasional 60-hour week when things are on fire
- You need clear structure and well-defined requirements to do your best work
- You're looking for a predictable career path; we're still early-stage
- You'd rather specialize than work across the stack
